He is Stanley Schachter Professor of Psychology at Columbia University and Professor of Management at the Columbia Business School. Both authors live in New York City and are directors of Columbia University’s Motivation Science Center.
Heidi Grant Halvorson, PhD, is a social psychologist whose primarily interested in the science of motivation. She is the author of the bestselling books Succeed: How We Can All Reach Our Goals; Nine Things Successful People Do Differently; Focus: Use Different Ways of Seeing the World for Success and Influence (cowritten with E. Tory Higgins); and The 8 Motivational Challenges. Dr. Grant Halvorson is associate director of the Motivation Science Center at Columbia University and senior scientist for the NeuroLeadership Institute. She is a member of the highly selective Society for Experimental Social Psychology, as well as of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science.
