August 15, 2017EIMEAR MCBRIDE grew up in the west of Ireland and trained at Drama Centre London before turning her attention to writing novels. Her books A Girl is a Half-formed Thing, The Lesser Bohemians, and Strange Hotel have won numerous awards respectively, including the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction, The Goldsmiths Prize, the Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year, and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. In a 2018 Times Literary Supplement poll of 200 critics, Eimear was named one of the ten best British and Irish novelists writing today. Alongside writing novels, Eimear is an active screenwriter. Eimear has recently directed a short film titled A VERY SHORT FILM ABOUT LONGING, starring Joe Alwyn.
