November 1, 2016D.G. CREIGHTON (1902--1979), former chairman of the department of history, University of Toronto, was the advisory editor of the Canadian Centenary Series. A graduate of the Universities of Toronto and Oxford, he was the author of John A. Macdonald: The Young Politician; John A. Macdonald: The Old Chieftain; Dominion of the North; The Empire of the St. Lawrence, and many other works. Holder of numerous honorary degrees, LL.D. and D.LITT., he twice won the Tyrrell Medal of the Royal Society of Canada, the University of Alberta National Award in Letters, the University of British Columbia Medal for Popular Biography, and the Molson Prize of the Canada Council.
