Chrystia Freeland was born and raised in Peace River, Alberta. She has reported for The Financial Times, The Economist and The Washington Post, and was deputy editor of The Globe and Mail and managing director and editor for consumer news at Thompson Reuters. Freeland's previous book was Sale of a Century: The Inside Story of the Second Russian Revolution. In 2013 she was elected to the Canadian Parliament as the Member for Toronto Centre. In November 2015 she was appointed Minister for International Trade.
